Lourish community guidelines
Lourish is a service to help you make the most of growing your own by connecting you with your local community.
Just like any other real or virtual community, Lourish has some rules to help everyone get along with each other.
These Community Guidelines are intended to allow all members to enjoy Lourish Not keeping to these simple requests may end up with us having to say goodbye to each other (see full terms and conditions).
Look after yourself
- Make sure you are happy with the level of privacy granted to you by Lourish (see the Lourish privacy statement)
- Since Lourish is a local community service some details about your locality will be available to other members
- Though we won't disclose your exact street address or map point stored in your personal account settings we will provide an approximate locality or region for the street address and a map location around 2km from your real location. Be sure you are happy with how this appears
- When you post a photo or create an exchange think what additional information you may be providing to others (e.g. location) and that you are comfortable with that
- Lourish is not a dating or social networking site and should not be used as such. If someone is using the service inappropriately, let us know through the support form or by sending us the details to report@lourish.com
Happy exchanges
Setting up an exchange or placing an offer on Lourish is not a legally binding transaction and you should think of exchanges and offers as friendly invitations.
- If you're making an exchange you don't have to accept the first, the closest or indeed any offer if you don't want to
- If when it comes to the physical exchange you are not happy with the produce offered you do not have to go through with the exchange, but please be pleasant and courteous in the manner in which you refuse
- Don't forget to thank people for their exchanges
- If you don't mind what you get for your exchage, just say "any offers"
- Don't request things without having something to offer, the exchange is for swapping or giving away, it's not a wants service!
- Only take what you need. It's not in the sprirt of Lourish to take what you will not use yourself. Taking items to sell-on or re-exchange for profit will lead to your account being suspended
Safe exchanges
The Lourish exchange is designed to help you giveaway and swap your home grown produce and as such may involve meeting people who you may or may not know.
In general you should treat exchanging like you would any transaction between strangers and the following guidelines may help you perform exchanges in a safe way.
- Do not give your personal details (e.g. home address, personal phone number) away to people who you do not know or are not comfortable with
- Do not go through with an exchange unless you are entirely comfortable with the circumstances
- Make exchanges during daylight hours in public places or at your place of work if you are allowed
- Try not to make exchanges alone, but if you do, make sure someone knows where you are going and what you are doing
- Don't advertise times when you will not be at home, where your house keys are located, or anything that might put you or your property at risk
Look after our community
If when you're using Lourish you come across something that you feel shouldn't be there we have a support link at the bottom of each page which you can use to tell us where and what you've seen and we will check it and act accordingly.
We will certainly remove the following types of content
- Sexually explicit/pornographic content
- Hate speech
- Cruelty
- Illegal activities
- Graphic or gratuitous violence and gore, attacks or humiliation
- Incitement to endanger others
Also, anyone who behaves in any of the following ways shouldn't be a part of Lourish
- Predatory behaviour including stalking, bullying and harassment
- Intention to harm or exploit minors
- Invading members privacy in order to obtain their private data
Finally, we also need you to follow the following house rules - please comply with the terms and conditions and all applicable local laws and please do not
- Create external links that contravene this code of conduct
- Disrupt another member’s computer (or the Lourish service)
- Use automated scripts to interact with the service
- Use Lourish to send unsolicited commercial advertisements or other spam
- Impersonate a Lourish employee
- Use Lourish for commercial purposes
- Upload any content that has not been created by you or another Lourish member or that infringes any rights (including intellectual property rights) of a third party

By signing up to Lourish, you agree to our terms and conditions and also agree to comply with these guidelines. If it turns out we think you are having problems sticking to them, we may terminate your account without notice or explanation. You’ve been warned.
